Visiting the Museum
What are your hours of operation?
When we reopen at Moody Gardens, our hours will be:
Monday–Sunday (7 Days a Week)

9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: GCM Members Only

10:00 AM – 5:00 PM: General Admission
Special Event Hours
During select events and seasonal periods, including Holiday in the Gardens and Summer Break, general admission hours will be extended to 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM.
The museum is closed on Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. We're also closed the Sunday after the Momus Parade.
How much is admission?
Admission prices at our new Moody Gardens location will be:

General Admission (Ages 2+): $15 per person

Children Under 2 years old: Free

Everybody Plays: $5 per person for up to 5 guests

Seniors (65+) and Active Military: $12 per person
Galveston Children's Museum members receive free admission. Moody Gardens members can also visit during regular admission hours.
Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?
Nope! Admission is available at the door. No reservations required for general visits.
We encourage you to purchase admission tickets directly through the Galveston Children's Museum. When you purchase directly from us, 100% of the proceeds support our museum.
Admission is also included in the Moody Gardens Super Saver Pass.
Where are you located?
The Galveston Children's Museum will have a dedicated space on the second floor of the Discovery Pyramid at Moody Gardens.

Where do I park?
As we get closer to reopening at Moody Gardens, we'll share parking information, maps, and directions to help you plan your visit.
How long should we plan to stay?
Most families spend about 1.5 to 2 hours exploring. You're welcome to stay as long as you like during open hours!
Children & Play
What ages is the museum designed for?
Our exhibits are designed for children ages 0–10, but we welcome all children and their grown-ups.
Can adults visit without children?
For the safety of our guests, unaccompanied adults must schedule their visit in advance and be escorted by museum staff.
Do children need to be supervised?
Yes. All children must be accompanied and actively supervised by an adult at all times while inside the museum.
Are food and drinks allowed?
Food and drinks are allowed only in designated areas, such as the party room. Please no eating or drinking near exhibits.
Can I bring a stroller?
Yes! Strollers are welcome. We also recommend baby-wearing as a convenient option for parents with infants.
Accessibility & Accommodations
Is the museum accessible?
Yes, our facility is wheelchair accessible and stroller-friendly. If you have specific accessibility needs, please contact us ahead of your visit.
Do you offer accommodations for sensory-sensitive children?
Absolutely! We offer noise-canceling headphones and have sensory-friendly activities and quiet zones (like our “Room to Grow” space) for children who need them.
Parties & Rentals
Can I host a party at the museum?
Absolutely! You can rent our party room for birthdays, celebrations, and gatherings. Learn more and book your party here.
Can I rent the museum for a private event?
Yes! Groups can rent the entire museum before or after regular hours. Perfect for field trips, homeschool groups, or family gatherings. Learn more and request your museum rental here.
Programs & Registration
Do I have to pay when I register for a program or camp?
Yes. Payment is required at the time of registration to secure your spot. Please email us at info@galvestoncm.org.
What is your refund or cancellation policy?
We do not offer refunds. However, if you cancel within the allowed timeframe, you may apply a credit toward a future program. Please email info@galvestoncm.org for assistance.
Membership
How much does a membership cost?
Memberships range from $35 for individuals to $165 for larger families. Learn more on our Memberships page here.
Can I use my membership to bring guests?
Memberships cover only the named individuals listed at the time of purchase.
Can I purchase or renew online?
Yes! Memberships can be purchased or renewed online via our secure form here.
Can I use my Moody Gardens membership to visit the museum?
Yes! Moody Gardens members can enjoy admission to the Galveston Children's Museum during regular operating hours (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
The 9:00–10:00 AM members-only hour is reserved for Galveston Children's Museum members.
Support & Donations
How can I support the museum?
We accept donations through Cognito, in-person, or over the phone.

Can I sponsor a Family Free Night?
Definitely! Sponsorship helps us provide free admission to the Galveston community. Sponsors can remain anonymous or receive recognition on our website, social media, and with signage in the museum.
Are you a nonprofit?
Yes! We are an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your donation is tax deductible. Donation receipts are available upon request.
Is GCM becoming part of Moody Gardens?
No. The Galveston Children’s Museum will remain an independent nonprofit organization with our own mission, programs, staff, memberships, fundraising, and community partnerships.
